Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your on campus organization. On behalf of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc’s Admirable Alpha Eta Chapter at San Francisco State University, we would like to invite you to our Annual Latina Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) on Saturday, February 29th. The conference will be held at San Francisco State in the Richard Oaks Multicultural Center from 9:00 AM - no later then 3:00 PM To give you some background information about our organization; Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Incorporated was founded on March 11, 1986 at California State University, Chico, becoming the first Latina-based sorority in the region. Since then, the sorority has set out to foster leadership skills, community service and academic excellence in young women. LYLC provides a safe, fun, and educational environment in which young Latina leaders can learn and grow. The conference will provide an opportunity for young women to interact with others from their community. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about issues affecting adolescence and discover solutions that will empower them to succeed. The conference features opening and closing remarks, educational breakout sessions, a keynote speaker, and a variety of cultural performances. Conference workshop topics will include promoting self-esteem, leadership skill development, and higher education. Students will be exposed to a university setting while having the opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers. The students will also get to interact, listen, and learn from university role models and community members. We encourage your organization to send as many students as you feel would benefit from this experience. For safety reasons, we ask that your student group be chaperoned by one parent, adult, or staff member. The conference is free for all students and chaperones, and we will provide breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, we cannot provide transportation to the event; therefore, it is important for your organization's representative to make travel arrangements.
