Become a FOG (Free Orton-Gillingham) Reader - SF Public Library

SFPL is offering training sessions  in February and they will train interested teens as young as 15.  The training sessions are on the following dates:

Tuesday, February 6, 2024 through Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. online via Zoom (all three sessions required)

The commitment is 6 months, tutoring a kid (ages are 1st through 4th grade) once a week.  If you add in the prep time required for each session,  it earns them about 50 hours of community service, but I think the biggest benefit is that they build mentoring relationships with younger students and also receive really great literacy coaching training.   The tutoring can be done with their tutee in person at any branch or even online via Zoom. The in-person tutoring must be done in a library branch.
