Free CPS Lecture!

I am writing to share an invitation to your teachers, staff and community for a free CPS Lecture in San Francisco titled "CPS Lectures#132: Jessica Powell on The Big Disruption, In Conversation with Obi Felten" This lecture will host both women in tech who will discuss Jessica's new book The Big Disruption. Books will also be available for sale and signed by Jessica after the talk. It would be wonderful if you could share this free event with your teachers and staff, this includes students and families!!

This event, which will be held on Monday, February 24th at 7:30 pm, is open to children and teens 12 years and older.

Jessica Powell is a technophile and technophobe who was Google’s Vice President of Communications and served on the company’s management team. Prior to that she was the CMO of Badoo, the world’s largest dating site. She is the author of Literary Paris, and has lived in 10 countries, working variously as a translator, journalist, and wild boar chaser. Her fiction and non-fiction has been published in The Guardian, The New York Times, WIRED, Fast Company, and Medium magazine. She is currently the co-founder and CEO of an early-stage start-up that builds software for musicians. She lives in San Francisco.

Obi Felten is responsible for getting early stage X projects out of the lab and into the real world – or ensuring they fail fast. Previously she was Director of Consumer Marketing for Google in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before Google, she launched the ecommerce business of a major UK retailer, worked as a strategy consultant, and led eToys.com's (unsuccessful) expansion to Germany during the first dotcom era. Along with her work at X, Obi is a startup mentor and angel investor, with a focus on women entrepreneurs.

We would love it if some of the students and entire community would join us for this lecture!

This will take place in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of SF, exact address will be given to those who RSVP. CPS Lectures is a program of The diaTribe Foundation, a local nonprofit.

If you have any questions about the above, please let me know! Thanks very much for your consideration in helping us spread the word! If there is a more appropriate person to send these CPS Lectures announcement to, I’d be so grateful if you would let me know!

Best,

Kelly
