As your students begin thinking about summer opportunities, we wanted you to be the first to know about the Institute for Deliberative Democracy, developed in partnership with Stanford’s Center for Deliberative Democracy (CDD) and Close Up Foundation. In 2021, we piloted this course online with 70 students from over 30 schools nationwide.
This June, we are looking forward to welcoming a diverse cohort of young people to an in-person Institute in Washington, D.C.
Co-led by Stanford and Close Up faculty, students will identify the most important issues facing their generation; gain the knowledge and skills to lead deliberations in their schools and communities, and develop resources and events to encourage youth participation in nationwide conversations. Students who participate in the full two-week program will be certified by NNSP, Close Up, and Stanford’s CDD as a Student Ambassador of Deliberative Dialogue.
We would like to invite educators, students, and parents to join us for an information session on April 19 at 7 pm EST.
