QWOCMAP Filmmaking Workshop: LBTQIA+ BIPOC Youth (18-24)


QWOCMAP's FREE Film & Freedom Academy for LBTQIA+ BIPOC youth ages 18-24 is upcoming October 7-10 at our space in the Presidio. Share with your networks, and register now!

Registration Deadline: Monday, September 5, 2022

In 4 days, participants will learn to create, write, direct, and edit a 5-minute film. This FREE intensive workshop demystifies filmmaking through hands-on exercises and interactive technical lectures in a highly creative, collaborative, and supportive environment. Participants may create their own films or work in pairs, and each film will have a QWOCMAP Filmmaker as a Mentor for support and coaching for the duration of the workshop. The entire process makes filmmaking completely doable and FUN!


Stipend Youth participants will receive a $500 stipend for on time arrival for each workshop class, full attendance at each workshop class, and completion of film by the end of the workshop process.


COVID & Monkeypox Safety Our safety guidelines are designed with high standards for the safety of our Sick & Disabled community and therefore will benefit everyone.

All participants, their cast and crew, and QWOCMAP staff, Mentors, crisis counselors, and ASL interpreters commit to: 1. Show proof of full vaccination plus at least one booster. 2. Show proof of negative PCR test results taken between 10/4-10/6. 3. Take antigen tests daily during the workshop. 4. Wear a N95 or KN95 mask indoors at all times. 5. Be fragrance free and smoke free.

QWOCMAP will: 1. Run mobile HEPA air purifiers 2. Open windows for fresh air ventilation 3. Provide disinfecting supplies 4. Offer N95 masks and gloves


Access Information The workshop space is wheelchair accessible. ASL interpretation will be provided for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing participants.The workshop includes one meal a day and healthy snacks for participants.
