The DEEP Program



The DEEP program is available to individuals who are diabetic, pre-diabetic or care givers to those with Diabetes. This 6-8 week workshop focuses on increasing self-management skills to manage stress, and to encourage short and long- term behavioral goals. Decrease diabetes risk factors, including obesity and hypertension, and increase your knowledge of diabetes and its risk factors.DEEP was developed by the Midwest Latino Health Research Training and Policy Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Healthier Living program focuses on problems adults with any chronic condition face and builds self-efficacy while providing tools, non-medical in nature. This workshop focuses on problems adults with any chronic condition face and builds self-efficacy while providing tools, non-medical in nature, ranging from setting goals, problem solving, mind body techniques, better breathing, healthy eating, physical activity, better communication, and importance of good sleep.
