Zaccho Dance Theatre - Announcing the Hip Hop Artist Residency & Training Program for 2022!

Zaccho Dance Theatre is excited to announce another new residency program beginning in 2022! A collaborative partnership between Zaccho Dance Theatre and PUSH Dance Company, the Hip Hop Artist Residency & Training (HART) Program is a 4-month residency that will provide training and performance opportunities to 8 Black transitional youth (ages 18-26) with aspirations to build a career in Hip Hop and the performing arts. Each HART Resident will have an opportunity to engage in their particular area of interest or expertise, focusing on the three tenets of Hip Hop: dance, music, and visual art. This culturally enriching program will also address how racial equity and social justice issues impact the Hip Hop and performing arts community. During the 4-month residency, each HART Resident Artist will receive:

A $2,000 stipend

100 hours of time at the Zaccho Studio to work collectively as a group

Mentorship support within your selected discipline (Choreography, Sound Engineering & Mixing, or Multimedia Technical Design)

Social media and marketing support

Placement in one of the three tenets of Hip Hop is determined by the candidate’s strengths and progress throughout the program. The HART Program will culminate in the creation of a collaborative performance led by the HART Resident Artists at the Bayview Opera House. Application deadline is November 22, 2021. Artists will be notified of their acceptance no later than December 17, 2021. More information about the HART residency and how to apply are available on the Zaccho website. Please share this call for artists with your communities! Tag us on social media - on Instagram @zacchosf @pushdance, Facebook @zaccho @pushfest, and Twitter @zaccho @pushdance and be sure to use the hashtag #ZacchoDanceTheatre #PUSHDance. Help us spread the word! The HART program is funded by the City of San Francisco’s Dream Keeper Initiative.
